Decision of One's Heart

                In Aeneid, the night when the Greeks popped out of the wooden horse and assaulted the Trojans, Aeneas was warned by Hector’s ghost in his dream that the land was under attack. Aeneas was preparing for the battle but Creusa, his dearest wife, requested to escape with her, his son, Ascanius, and his father, Anchises. Aeneas loves his family and didn’t want them to get slain. So he decided to go with the idea of his wife rather than to fight the Greeks.

And in Iliad, as Hector returned to the battle, he gave one last look to his loving wife, Andromache, and his young son, Astyanax. Andromache pleaded to Hector not to continue because she didn’t want him to die. Yet Hector refused and said that he could not be a coward. It was for him to fight always in the forefront of battle. He glanced as his terrified son. When Astyanax grow up, he will be far greater than him. Hector bid goodbye to his family and came back to the war.

Decisions can lead to frustrations but they may also lead to success. When the two made their decisions, they must not regret it because even if it leads to success or failure it was their decision and they will need to do their best in order for it to be successful. Everything happens for a reason. And may all of us accept this fact and don't be frustrated if we lose or fail. Let’s just accept it and think that it was not for us for that moment but later will be.

The choices made by the young great Trojan heroes between the two things which are very important to them; their loved ones or their own country. Aeneas selected his family while Hector chose his homeland. It was a hard option but they had to pick. Both Creusa and Andromache treasured their son and husband and didn’t want to lose them. The scenes also showed the love and determination of each character in the two stories.

One Lose is Enough

 The book of Aeneid showed the laws of a city who was controlled by military forces and was undergoing in war. Based on some facts in history, laws and rules during those times were terrible and were very strict. If you are beaten that time, you must accept the punishment that will be granted onto you. If you won a battle, you are luck. But if you lost, you must face your destiny.

  Sometimes, when a person was once defeated he will try not to be overcome again. We all know that the end of the Trojan War was when Aeneas’ country fell in the arms of the Greeks. He did not want that to happen this once more so he did his best not to fail. He won every battle he encountered for his countrymen. This book also displays that at those times, war and death was a natural part of life. Aeneas grows stronger and stronger. They never surrender even though they are outnumbered. He wins with inspiration. 

The Fallen Troy

                Long time ago, the city called Troy was built by Trojans and a rival of the Ancient Greeks. Aeneas was born and grew in this Ancient City. The Greeks have a tricking gift called “The Trojan Horse.” This friendly gift is a big wooden horse for the Trojans. But they don’t know that the friendly gift is a trap. There were hundreds of soldiers inside the big wooden horse and prepared to attack the City. The town was destroyed and luckily, Aeneas survived and run away with the other Trojans left to the unexpected attack from the Ancient Greeks.

                I feel pity for Aeneas because when his own city was burning, he can’t do anything to save it. He also didn’t get the chance to save his love ones especially his wife. He saw his own city being destroyed and burned. I think Aeneas feels bad because he had the opportunity to save his city but he didn’t do it because he know that he can’t save it anymore. All the memories in his city are all gone. He is all alone now, all the persons he love was all gone now. He thinks now of avenging his family, friends and his home city from those tyrant Greeks. And he will do everything to have his revenge on them.

                If Aeneas and the other Trojans survived go to found Rome, I will be happy for them because they found a new home to settle in and treat it like the old Troy.
